Maybe this whole "heal your nervous system" stuff is all a big lie.

Maybe there is something wrong with me.

Maybe life is just meant to be this hard.

Trust me, I thought so too.

 

In 2021, after having my two year old business blow up (in a good way) and feeling like all my dreams were coming true...

My husband got super sick.

To the point that the hospital basically said, "He's probably not gonna make it..."

He did make it.

In fact, he recovered incredibly quickly.

But me on the other hand...

 

My nervous system was a WRECK from thinking I was going to lose him. 😭😭😭

 

My brain fog was so bad.

I was constantly stressed about everything.

I couldn't sleep.

I lost over half of my hair.

I felt like I was failing at EVERYTHING.

In fact I used those words so. many. times.

"I feel like I'm failing at EVERYTHING right now."

 

Doctors couldn't really help me.

They gave me some Xanax, and ran some blood work.

They didn't find anything concerning.

 

But the one thing I discovered after MONTHS of searching for solutions...

my body was in fight or flight. ALL THE TIME.

Fight or flight is something that SHOULD happen.

When someone jumps out and scares you, you WANT your body to freak the freak out and be ready to fight!!

But you also want your body to be able to see, "Okay that was just my husband, we're okay." And then come back OUT of fight or flight. Out of survival mode. Back into "rest and digest."

After learning more about Heart Rate Variability, nervous system stability, neuroscience, and myself... I was able to pull my body, brain and nervous system OUT off survival mode. And a lot of what I did was actually really FUN! (it wasn't just all weeping, though yeah there was some of that too lol)

Why you might be stuck in survival mode:

From my experience (and the experience of coaching 300+ women over the last 4 years...) there are 2 main reasons:

1. No one ever taught you WHAT TO DO when you have big feelings, stuck emotions, or stress. 

2. It's been a tough last few years for so many reasons. A pandemic, politics, economic stress/inflation, lack of resources, isolation, increase in social media usage leading us to compare ourselves even more, etc.

It's really truly NOT YOUR FAULT.

Let me say that again.

IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT.

The things that happened to you are not your fault.

 

You're not lazy. You're tired.

Your body has been in survival mode for so long, it needs rest.
